GS&P Selected To Provide Transportation Design Services for the City of Gallatin

Extension Project to Improve Congestion and Connect US31E Northeast of Downtown Gallatin

Nashville, TN – November 3, 2009 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading multi-disciplinary design and consulting firm to the built environment, announces it has been selected by the City of Gallatin, Tennessee to provide transportation planning, environmental and design services for a 1.69 mile widening and extension of Albert Gallatin Avenue/Hatten Track Road in Gallatin.  Transportation services include the preparation of a Transportation Planning Report identifying possible extension corridors, the environmental assessment of those alternatives and ultimately the actual roadway and bridge design of the selected alignment.  The construction of the new roadway will aid in alleviating congestion in downtown Gallatin by providing a northern Bypass to allow SR 109 traffic to connect with US 31E northeast of downtown Gallatin.  GS&P will coordinate with TDOT’s Local Programs Office during the development of the project as the project is funded with Federal Surface Transportation Program funds administered through TDOT.

Rand Hall Facility Renovation Incorporates Environmental and Energy Efficient Details

Nashville, Tenn. – October 23, 2009 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading multi-disciplinary design and consulting firm to the built environment, is pleased to announce the Chef James Bistro, a 2,000-square-foot student dining facility located within Rand Hall at Vanderbilt University, has received LEED for Commercial Interiors (CI) certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC).  Completed in August 2008, the GS&P-designed facility was renovated to meet Vanderbilt’s desire for a clean, inviting and timeless look which showcases the hot and grab-and-go cold items offered within while supporting the University-wide goal of all campus design and construction projects meeting LEED requirements.

GS&P Study of US Highway 72 Corridor Endorsed by Shoals Area MPO

Project Receives 2009 Excellence in Regional Transportation Award from National Association of Development Organizations

Birmingham, Ala. – October 13, 2009 -- Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national planning, engineering, architecture and  interior design  firm, is pleased to announce the Shoals Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has endorsed its corridor study of US Highway 72 within Colbert County in Northwest Alabama.  In response to emerging growth and development trends within the corridor, the Shoals Area MPO, hosted by the Northwest Alabama Council of Local Governments (NACOLG), commissioned GS&P to perform a corridor study along 38 miles of US 72.  The project will be recognized for its receipt of a 2009 Excellence in Regional Transportation Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) at the organization's 2009 Award and Exhibitor Showcase on October 28 in Savannah, Georgia.

Medical Offices Eyed as Solution for Aging Malls

Vanderbilt Health at One Hundred Oaks is featured in the September 11, 2009 issue of the Nashville Business Journal. The article focuses on the new conveniences of the 20 clinics that moved into the renovated 100 Oaks Mall from the Medical Center's 21st Avenue location near the Vanderbilt Campus. The new healthcare facility, for which GS&P led the re-design effort, is receiving the attention of real estate developers and city governments interested in redeveloping aging malls in their area with some combination of retail and healthcare.

Knoxville City Council Passes Resolution in Support of Future Roadway Improvements which Address Safe and Efficient Transportation for All Roadway Users

The study and guidelines provide a set of tools and strategies to support complete streets transformations throughout the Knoxville region.  Immediately following completion of the study, the Knoxville City Council passed a resolution endorsing the creation, adoption and adherence to a 'Complete Streets Policy' on Tuesday, August 11, 2009.

Brooks Health System Corporate Headquarters Completes
Jacksonville, Fla. - Sep 08, 2009

First Building Registered for LEED Certification on a Healthcare Campus in Northeast Florida

Jacksonville, FL – September 8, 2009 - Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, announces the Brooks Health System Corporate Headquarters building for which the firm provided design services is complete.  The 47,000-square-foot, four-floor facility serves as the corporate headquarters for the Brooks Health System's 143-bed Rehabilitation Hospital and its 25 outpatient clinics which are located from Southeast Georgia throughout Florida.  The facility was the first building in Jacksonville located on a healthcare campus to register under the USGBC's LEED rating system and upon completion, LEED Silver certification is now pending.

Firm Contracted by China Healthcare Corp. to Design Hospital in Cixi, China

600,000-Square-Foot, 500-Bed Facility Design to Focus on Flexibility and Sustainability; Services to Combine Best of the West with Best of the East

Nashville, Tenn. – August 26, 2009 - Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, is pleased to announce it has been contracted by China Healthcare Corp. (CHC Healthcare) to design a healthcare facility in Cixi, China.  The 600,000-square-foot, 500-bed facility will serve the Zhejiang Provence Cixi Municipal Health Bureau and is being developed in partnership with the City of Cixi.  GS&P will partner with the Shanghai Institute of Architectural Design and Research (SIADR) for the full design process through completed construction.  The design will focus on flexibility and sustainability while offering this emerging suburban community the best of Western healthcare practices with the best of traditional Eastern practices.

Feasibility Study for Livable Centers Initiative in Douglas County, GA Completed
Atlanta, GA - Aug 26, 2009

Study Provides Prioritized Implementation Plan for Improvements along Highway 92 Corridor

Atlanta, GA – August 26, 2009 - Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national planning, engineering, architecture and interior design firm, is pleased to announce the completion of a Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Feasibility Study for the Highway 92 Corridor in Douglas County, Georgia.  This study furthers the initial conceptual LCI study completed in March 2008 by prioritizing transportation projects that support a series of walkable, multi-modal mixed-use centers along the corridor. Funded by Douglas County, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and the United States Department of Transportation, the study takes a balanced approach to prioritizing projects by consideration of four distinct factors:  mobility, quality of life, market impact and physical/engineering constraints.  The study also recommends the best funding/implementation strategy for each project, including federal/state grants, tax incentives, community improvement districts and public-private partnerships.
